Priest Filippo is determined to expose the weeping statue of the Virgin Mary, but stumbles upon the grim village community, who prove deeply traumatized and cling to their miracle. Filippo becomes increasingly embroiled in the grief of the village and in a series of seemingly miraculous events that undermine his certainties about his vocation as a priest and as a human being.
